Its capital and provincial center is Cagayan de Oro City.

The province borders Iligan City and Bukidnon to the south, the Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur to the east, and to the north is Bohol Sea with the island-province of Camiguin just off its northern shore.

Cagayan de Oro is known to be a highly urbanized city with lots of historical, technological and tourism sites. Below are the places of interest for tourists and guests.

Gaston Park – named after the first Mayor of Cagayan de Oro, Segundo Gaston; located near the Saint Augustine Cathedral and Archbishop’s Palace. This park was the center of town when Pueblo de Cagayan was first erected in 1624. This plaza eventually became an execution ground for Spanish criminals turned later into a training ground for the local revolutionaries during the American occupation. After the second World War, the Japanese came to the site to plant cherry blossoms as a gift.

Golden Friendship Park (Divisoria) – a series of parks and monuments stretching along the city proper featuring national heroes like Jose Rizal, Ramon Magsaysay and former City Mayor Justiniano R. Borja. Another monument (referred to as the Bonifacio monument) contain the bones of patriots who died during the Battle of Agusan on May 14, 1900 against the Americans.

Gov. Vicente de Lara Park – named after the former governor of Misamis Oriental (formerly Gen. Douglas MacArthur Park); it’s located right in front of the Provincial Capitol and includes the Heritage Monument and Press Freedom Monument;

MacArthur Marker (Brgy. Macabalan)

Museo de Oro (Xavier University) – This is the only museum in the country that showcases local folkloric beliefs; museum has relics and artiifcats taken from several places in Northen Mindanao and artworks of local artists.

Museum of Three Cultures (Capitol University)

La Castilla Museum (Pelaez Mansion) – the former residence of the founders of Liceo de Cagayan University (Rodolfo Neri-Pelaez and Elsa Pelaez); converted into a museum in 1997 and showcases the Pelaez family memorabilia

Catanico Falls (Brgy. FS Catanico)

Palalan Falls (Brgy. Tablon) – It is surrounded by boulders and stones dubbed by the city as Oro stone similar in characteristics with the Mangima Stone. It has 3 steps of falls at approximately 50 meters apart with the upper portion, ( the source ), as the biggest of the three.

Migtugsok Falls (Brgy. Cugman) – accessible by car via Indahag until Sitio Camacawan where one has to walk for 45 minutes in a winding, descending sloping trek of an estimated distance of 400 feet, passing along the converging shallow river of Bigaan and Migtugsok. The river convergence was more or less 20 meters in width. Another 30 minutes trek was made before reaching the falls using the river. The falls is composed of five beautiful cascading waters, where the beauty of nature could be experienced, unexploited by the carelessness of human search for progress and development.

Macahambus Cave and Gorge (Brgy. Bayanga)

Monigue Cave (Brgy. Manbuaya) – the cave entrance is flowing water from underground stream. The cave has a small opening that seems too narrow to be passable, it has a six (6) inches airspace between ceiling and water that you have to submerge yourselves one by one, equipped with a helmet and a waterproof cap lamp. The cave contains a beautiful sparkling formations of Calcium Carbonate (CaCO3) or Calcites. These stalactites and stalagmites, white and brown, are sign of oxidized materials that take 50-60 years to form an inch. the cave is definitely spellbinding, There were formations of flowstone, gurpool-resembling, rice terraces, transparent crystals and pictureque speleothems, such as cathedral drapes and icons.

High Ridge (Brgy. Macasandig)

Night Cafe and Night Market (Divisoria)

And many more!

Please contact Genove Travel if you are interested in Marigold Hotel's promo!
